Pastor Roger Hilliard was saved at the age of twenty-one in 1992 when he heard a clear presentation of the Gospel given in a testimony at a local church in North Carolina. Shortly after, he surrendered to preach the Gospel. Bro. Hilliard served the Lord in his local church while working as a pastry chef at a nearby resort.  Over the years, the Lord has given him many opportunities to serve in local churches.  Bro. Hilliard met and married his wife, Heather, in 2001 where they were both employed in the ministries at the Temple Baptist Church in Powell.  Since then, the Lord has blessed them with four children and a granddaughter. 

The Lord has opened many doors for service for the Hilliards, including helping with two church plants in Maryland and West Virginia, helping a church in Wisconsin, and serving in many areas at the Temple Baptist Church in Powell.  Pastor Hilliard served as an assistant to the pastor there for eight years before being called as the pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in August 2020.
